History At PlayTM, LLC, A Suffrage Celebration, at the Lawrence Academy Theater, April 5, 2-4

History At PlayTM, LLC (HAP) has garnered nationwide attention for Immersive Living History performances chronicling the lives of legendary figures who changed society. How Long Must We Wait?TM celebrates the men and women on the front lines of the Women’s Suffrage Movement. Written by HAP’s Founder and Artistic Director Judith Kalaora to celebrate the 2020 Suffrage Centennial, How Long Must We Wait? brings you the heroic voices of those who struggled for human rights. Now, these trailblazers travel to Groton to share their incredible story at the Lawrence Academy Theater, on the LA campus, 26 Powder House Road, Groton, MA., on April 5 at 2 pm. A one-time-only special event! Running time, approximately 45 minutes, plus a post-performance panel discussion and audience Q&A. Please see grotonhistory.org or call 978-448-0092 for more information. The public is cordially invited free of charge to this exciting performance co-sponsored by the Groton History Center, Lawrence Academy, and the Groton Public Library, with generous support from the Groton Commissioners of Trust Funds. Audiences join abolitionists and suffragists, as they march the streets, raise their voices, and risk their lives, demanding woman’s right to vote and equality for all in How Long Must We Wait?TM Meet fierce activists, who led the nearly century-long fight for suffrage, including Angelina Grimke, a Southerner, who dared to ask an all-male legislature to alter their state Constitution; a runaway slave & abolitionist Sojourner Truth, who warned that “The women are coming up, blessed be ... and a few of the men are coming up with them,” along with many others. How Long Must We Wait?TM also tells the story of the ‘Silent Sentinels’— women incarcerated for peaceful, wartime demonstrations, as they urged President Woodrow Wilson for the right to vote. The words of these and other brave pioneers echo in our contemporary struggle for human rights. How Long Must We Wait?TM is an audio-visual, multimodal production that blends precise historic orations with interpretive movement, song, and symbolic design to illuminate the struggle. Featured in news media outlets, including WCVB Boston, CBS WBZ Radio, New York Times, and Associated Press, History At PlayTM, LLC features influential and often forgotten historical figures in creatively produced Immersive Living History Experiences. Jordan Rich, of WBZ Radio (The Jordan Rich Show), states, “[HAP] is a one-woman force of nature...it takes people like Judith to bring these stories to life...these lost pieces of history.” According to Fredie Kay, Massachusetts History Center Founder, and President, "[How Long Must We Wait?] is an amazing art performance piece and an incredible and dramatic telling, singing, and dancing of the suffrage story at its heart.” About History At PlayTM, LLC: History At PlayTM, LLC was founded in 2010 by Artistic Director Judith Kalaora to create Immersive Living History Experiences and to chronicle the lives of influential and often forgotten figures.
