Haitian Music Sunday

First Unitarian Church of Worcester is celebrating our twice-yearly Music Sunday this spring with works by Haitian-American composer Sydney Guillaume. Originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Guillaume now resides in Portland, Oregon. The choir will be singing three of Guillaume's works, and excerpts from a fourth work. Gabriel T. Guillaume, Sydney's father, who has written the texts for many of his choral pieces, wrote the text for two of the anthems we will be singing. Most of the music will be sung in Haitian Creole, which our choir has been learning how to sing for the past two months. The music highlights themes of hope, resilience, courtesy, and working together for the greater good. The adult choir will be singing "Onè - Respè" (Honor and Respect), "Ansamn, Ansamn" (All together), "This, Too, Shall Pass," and excerpts from "Twa Tanbou" (Three Drums). First Unitarian Church is located at 90 Main St, Worcester, MA. Parking is available in the church parking lots on State St. Anyone is welcome to worship with us at our services, which are at 10:30 am on Sunday mornings. Our services are live-streamed and can be accessed easily through the “worship” link on our website at www.firstunitarian.com.
