Imagine this: you step into a room filled with the scent of freshly poured wine, the air tinged with anticipation. The session begins, and the mysteries of the world’s most revered grape varieties start to unravel before you. Each sip reveals the intricate dance of flavors, each label decoded with precision. By the end, you’ll walk out not just with a taste on your tongue but with a newfound confidence—a confidence that ensures you’ll always select the perfect bottle, regardless of price, whether buying for yourself or ordering in a restaurant.
This experience is more than just a class; it’s a homage to a legend in the world of wine education, Andrea Immer Robinson. Her seminal work, *Great Wine Made Simple*, first hit the shelves in 2000, a mere heartbeat before the Wine School of Philadelphia opened its doors. Back then, her book wasn’t just recommended reading; it was the foundation upon which many of our early students built their wine knowledge. Even today, it stands as a beacon for novice wine enthusiasts, guiding them through the often intimidating world of wine with ease and clarity.
In 2004, Andrea graciously returned the gesture. At the Food Network’s Great Big Food Show in Philadelphia, she took the stage as the keynote speaker for a series of lectures hosted by the Wine School of Philadelphia. In front of a sold-out crowd, she began by acknowledging the significance of the school, stating, “You are lucky to have the Wine School of Philadelphia,” and went on to share words of praise for the school’s founder, Keith Wallace.
This class is our tribute to Andrea and her enduring influence on wine education. Like her book, *Great Wine Made Simple*, this session is crafted to simplify the complexities of wine for every student, offering them a clear path to understanding and appreciating one of life’s greatest pleasures.
