‘PICTURESQUE’ CLASSICS COME TO TRINITY MARCH 1st
The Arts at Trinity will continue its 2025-2026 concert season on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 4 p.m., with a performance by the Levaco Quintet of “picturesque” music by Francis Poulenc, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Modest Mussorgsky.
The concert will take place in Trinity Episcopal Church, 1108 N. Adams St., at Delaware Avenue, in Wilmington. Admission is free.
“We’re inviting the public to come spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon savoring Levaco’s wonderful combination of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn, along with a guest pianist on Trinity’s Steinway concert grand piano,” said David Simmons, Trinity Parish music director.
Poulenc’s Sextet (1932) is influenced by jazz, ragtime and French popular song. “All of Paris comes out of the windows Poulenc opens,” a critic once wrote. Shostakovich’s “Tahiti Trot” (1928) is a droll arrangement of Vincent Youmans’ “Tea for Two.” Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” (1874) takes listeners on a brilliant walking tour of an exhibition of artworks by one of the composer’s friends.
“The Arts at Trinity is pleased to offer its concerts free of charge. We’re grateful to audience members for their voluntary donations,” Simmons said.
A selection of treats and hot/cold drinks will be served before and after the concert.
Trinity Church is wheelchair accessible, with designated parking spaces, access ramps on either side of the church complex, and an outdoor elevator. Free parking is available adjacent to the church on N. Adams Street and in the church parking lot on W. 11th Street.
