Promise Champions Reception Gala, 2025

Hundreds of congressional officials, business leaders, advocates, and other supporters are gathering for the 2025 “Promise Champions” Reception Gala on June 3, 2025, to honor individuals who are working to prevent gun violence nationwide. Sandy Hook Promise will be celebrating U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and U.S. Representative John James (R-MI), for their bipartisan work to bring violence prevention and school safety resources to communities across the country. Sen. Amy Klobuchar will be honored for her work alongside a bipartisan group of Senators to introduce and pass the Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing School Violence Act (STOP School Violence Act). Rep. John James will be recognized for co-sponsoring both the Preparing Leaders to Assess Needs for School Safety (PLAN) Act as well as the Kid Providing Resources for Optimal Outcomes Against Fatalities (Kid PROOF) Act. Also, special musical guest Paula Cole will be performing during the gala. Cole has been a truth-teller, a provocateur, and writer who has pushed for social change. The Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter has released music over three decades and is perhaps best known for hit songs including “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?” and “I Don’t Want to Wait.” The gala reception is hosted by Sandy Hook Promise, a national nonprofit that educates and empowers youth and adults to prevent violence in schools, homes, and communities. The organization’s evidence-informed “Know the Signs” prevention programs have prevented at least 18 credible planned school shooting attacks, hundreds of youth suicides, and countless other acts of violence and self-harm.
