Thursday, March 20th from 10am-12pm
Welcome spring's awakening with a mindful forest bathing experience on the Spring Equinox morning at Potomac Overlook Regional Park! As day and night find balance, join certified forest bathing guide Ilana Rubin of Kindred Nature to reconnect with nature’s growth after winter rest - from leaves starting to unfurl to early spring flowers emerging from the warming earth.
Forest bathing (nature therapy) invites you to slow down and immerse yourself through your senses in the healing presence of nature. Through gentle guided experiences including mindful walking, nature connection invitations, sharing reflections, and enjoying light snacks and local tea beneath the awakening forest canopy, you'll discover how to tap into spring's energizing spirit while finding your own sense of renewal. Research shows that forest bathing can reduce stress, boost immunity, enhance creativity, and restore mental clarity.
All adults are welcome, with no experience needed. We'll walk less than a mile at a contemplative pace over various terrain (paved/unpaved, flat/sloped), with activities adaptable to your comfort level. To learn more about forest bathing, you are welcome to explore Kindred Nature, watch this video from the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs, or this video from CBS Mornings.
