Feb. 2, 2025 - Lunar New Year Parade 2:00 pm

The Annual Lunar New Year Parade has been proudly hosted by the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) for over 60 years in Washington, D.C.'s Chinatown. This year, we are partnering with the Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (MOAPIA) to celebrate the Year of the Snake. The snake is the sixth animal in the Chinese zodiac, symbolizing wisdom, charm, elegance, and transformation. People born in the Year of the Snake are often seen as intuitive, strategic, and intelligent. The CCBA will organize a vibrant, community-oriented parade featuring various cultural performances. Participants will include lion and dragon dance troupes, musical bands from diverse generational and cultural organizations, kung fu schools, beauty pageant representatives, members of the U.S. military from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as local high school bands and more. The parade will culminate in a firecracker show accompanied by lion dance performances. This event typically attracts 20,000 and 40,000 patrons and tourists to the area. The CCBA collaborates closely with government and local organizations to provide services and educational programs. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for community members, promote understanding of Chinese culture, and strengthen the bonds between Chinatown and our many friends and organizations in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area. We recommend taking the METRO to Gallery Place for convenient access and to avoid transportation hassles.
