Adequate emergency planning and preparation will make every individual and their communities more resilient when a catastrophe does strike. September is National Preparedness Month. Is your audience ready for a disaster? Helen Hynson Vettori (pronounced: HELL-lun HIN-suhn Ve-TOR-ee) can help them assess whether they are as well prepared for one as the characters in her Black Swan trilogy thriller novel series. They can visit the subject matter expert who was an EMT/commended paramedic in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad and Employee of the Year emergency manager in the Department of Homeland Security turned author at the One Loudoun Barnes & Noble. Vettori will offer self-assessment questions and talk about how people can be ready for a Black Swan event. She will also have two of her thrillers, Black Swan Impact and Black Swan Shock, available. Both novels reveal emergency preparedness and response actions and have received awards and accolades like, Black Swan Shock is “[a]n intense, futuristic thriller that recalls the best of 1970s cinema.”
Definition of a Black Swan event: a catastrophic incident that is that no one could have foreseen or imagined because of its unprecedented impact.
