LILY SWAB ART SHOW

Tulsa, OK — Brooklyn-based artist Lily Swab will present a solo exhibition of new work at WOMPA, opening June 26, 2026. Originally from Tulsa, Swab returns to her hometown with a body of work that continues her exploration of independence, emotional processing, and the emergence of self. Working across large-scale canvases, Swab’s practice is rooted in an intuitive and emotionally driven process. Her work is distinguished by an unconventional use of graphite and water, which she treats as fluid materials rather than fixed tools. This approach allows forms to dissolve, re-emerge, and shift—blurring the line between drawing and painting while introducing an element of unpredictability that mirrors the emotional content of the work. Drawing from Western imagery, pop culture references, and personal experience, the exhibition reflects a tension between control and surrender. Swab’s figures—often bold, feminine, and self-possessed—exist within layered surfaces that carry both immediacy and depth. Through this process, she transforms internal narratives into visual language, creating space for reflection, vulnerability, and confrontation. This exhibition marks a continued evolution in Swab’s practice, building on her growing presence with collectors both domestically and internationally. Returning to Tulsa, the show also serves as a moment of reconnection—bringing her work back to the place where her artistic trajectory began.
