The Bald Soprano
Often called the “quintessential absurdist play,” The Bald Soprano is a comedy that turns everyday conversation into nonsense, revealing the breakdown of communication. The story follows two couples, the Smiths and the Martins, whose polite dinner party quickly devolves into hilarious chaos.
Characters available to audition for:
• Mr. Smith – A proper Englishman, practical but silly.
• Mrs. Smith – His wife, talkative and matter-of-fact.
• Mr. Martin – Another guest, polite but easily confused.
• Mrs. Martin – His wife, formal yet forgetful.
• Mary – The maid, outspoken and mischievous.
• The Fire Chief – A visitor full of strange stories.
The Chairs
In this tragicomedy, an elderly couple spend their evening arranging chairs for an invisible audience, waiting for a mysterious Orator who will deliver a great message to the world. The play is funny, touching, and haunting, exploring themes of purpose, love, and loneliness.
Characters available to audition for:
• Old Man – An elderly husband, whimsical and weary.
• Old Woman – His energetic and devoted wife.
• Orator – A figure who arrives to deliver the long-awaited message.
