Odyssey of the Mind Informational Meeting
Student teams of 5-7 students select one open-ended problem to solve. Students develop creative-thinking skills that can be applied to real-life situations.They work developing a solution to their selected long-term problem, which varies from building mechanical devices such as spring-driven vehicles to engineering weight bearing balsa wood structures to giving their own interpretation of literary classics. Each problem comes with specific guidelines including a cost limit, time limit, and scoring rubric. All aspects of the solution including costumes, props, scenery, and technical devices must be original creations of the students. The teams present their solutions at a regional and a state tournament that is hosted by the Oklahoma State University Honors College.
