"Where Are You Going", a film by Jasmine Kainy
Halina Birenbaum, Holocaust survivor and author, is joined for the first time by son, Yakov Gilad, a famous Israeli songwriter, on her annual journey to Poland. While following her overwhelming survival-path during a book-signing tour, Yakov discovers the politics of remembrance, and questions Jewish-Polish relations and Israel’s treatment of survivors.
Jasmine Kainy is an Israeli filmmaker who has been nominated 11 times by the Israeli Academy Awards (Ophirs) and has directed more than 20 documentary films, series, and investigative documentaries. She is also a lecturer at Hebrew University and at the International Program at Reichman University.
