Legendary Folk Music Group Announces Return to the Stage Since 1962, The New Christy Minstrels have delighted audiences with their legendary recordings and unforgettable live performances. At a time when folk music was dominated by duos and trios, the group's beloved founder, Randy Sparks, who passed away on February 11, 2024, envisioned something entirely new—a powerful folk sound created by a larger chorus of voices. The result was electrifying, with the group's debut album earning a Grammy Award and launching one of the most influential ensembles in American folk music history. Now, for the first time since Sparks' passing, the beloved "Christies" have regrouped and are ready to bring their iconic sound back to concert halls nationwide. Their performances include beloved songs from the group's extraordinary catalog such as "This Land Is Your Land," "Today (While the Blossoms Still Cling to the Vine)," "Saturday Night," and "Green, Green," along with many more cherished folk classics that have resonated with audiences for generations. "We're thrilled to bring The New Christy Minstrels back to the stage," said Becky Jo Benson, a 27-year performing member of the group. "Our goal is to honor our musical legacy while continuing to deliver the high-energy, positive performances that have earned us standing ovations for years. Each song in our repertoire is carefully chosen to reinforce our message of national unity and the greatness of American folk music."
