Slavic Spring Concert
The Arizona Balalaika Orchestra, now in its 46th year, is pleased to announce its annual Slavic Spring Concert at St. Cyril of Alexandria Catholic Church, 4725 E. Pima St., Tucson, on Saturday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m.
This annual event will present the dynamic and colorfully-costumed 25-member orchestra, accompanied by the exciting Lajkonik Polish Folk Ensemble dancers, playing primarily Slavic music from Ukraine, Russia, and Poland on authentic Russian instruments, including the triangular balalaika, the mandolin domra, accordions, woodwinds, and percussion in a spirited family-friendly concert. Special guest artist Peter Omelchenko, from Moscow and Washington, DC, is a world-renowned virtuoso on the Russian domra, a mandolin-like instrument. The concert will be conducted by UA grads Dr. Alexander Tentser and Rafael Reyes-Worman.
