Hot Glass Sandcasting Workshop

In this hands-on class, you’ll create unique glass pieces by pressing impressions into damp sand to form molds, which instructors will help you fill with molten glass. You’ll craft up to two pieces, each no larger than 6x6x2 inches. Be prepared to get dirty! What to Expect: You can bring your own objects or choose from a selection provided by the class. Be mindful that objects should not have undercuts (parts that would make them difficult to remove from the sand) and should be no larger than 6 inches in any dimension. You’ll be making 2 pieces with maximum dimensions of 6x6x2 inches each. This process involves a lot of sand and handling the molds, so wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Once the glass is poured, the pieces will need to undergo a slow cooling process. This can take time, so your pieces will be available for pickup one week after the class.
