Nature Has No Borders

Sergio Avila is a Conservation Biologist who grew up playing and learning in the Chihuahuan desert, in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico. He is a relatively recent inhabitant of the Sonoran Desert, having lived in the region for 20+ years. From obtaining a graduate degree in desert ecosystems, to living in remote areas studying jaguars and mountain lions, to his many years of trail running, Sergio's experiences in the desert have built his own knowledge, stories and connection to land and people. In this presentation, Sergio will share some of his most impactful stories in a region crisscrossed with imaginary lines, where tortoises and butterflies carry no passports.
