Come join us for a cello concert and discussion that celebrates female composers.
For centuries, there was a widespread belief that musical composition was beyond the scope of women, and the prolific creative output of women composers had been glaringly ignored or forgotten. Now, the 20th and 21st centuries are providing a fertile atmosphere for women to compose and perform music in all genres.
There is a surprisingly vast repertoire of compositions by women for cello. Our presenter, Theresa Villani, has worked or been in contact with five of the six composers featured on this program, each one writing in her own unique voice and style.
