The Tampa Oratorio Singers are thrilled to announce our upcoming performances of Mendelssohn’s masterpiece, Elijah! "This towering oratorio takes the listener on a musical journey like no other. From the calm melodies in “He, Watching Over Israel” to the lively “The Fire Descends from Heav’n,” TOS captures the deep emotion and heart of Mendelssohn’s magnificent music," Nancy Callahan, Director. First premiered in 1846, it tells the story of the prophet Elijah, his mission to lead the people of Israel back to God and his confrontation with the prophet, Baal. The work blends powerful storytelling with rich, expressive music. Performed in English with professional orchestra and soloists, it's an event you won't want to miss! Soloists featured: Todd William Donovan, Bass-Baritone Eric Ferring, Tenor Susan Hellman Spatafora, Soprano Robyn Rocklein, Mezzo-Soprano. An added concert will be performed on Saturday, March 28, at Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Clearwater, at 4:00 p.m.
