Summer Heat 2: Art Exhibition and Reception
Come inside and enjoy the summer heat! The Gulf Coast Artists Alliance presents “Summer Heat 2”, the second annual juried exhibition resulting from an open call to artists. This sizzling show features 20 artists from Tampa Bay and beyond. Diverse techniques make a fascinating collection, with topics such as summer activities, global warming, summer landscapes, and anything that applies to being hot or beating the heat.
In addition, Francine Michel will present “Heat Up with Wax”, a demo about the colorful technique of encaustic. If you have ever wondered how encaustic (wax painting) is done, plan to sit in with Francine for a demonstration during the Art Walk reception July 11 at 5:15.
Summer Heat 2 is on view July 2 through August 1 at GCAA ArtWorks Gallery, 5546 First Avenue N, St. Petersburg. A reception will be held during the July Art Walk, July 11 from 5 to 9 pm with refreshments and live music by singer/songwriter and guitarist Keith Otten starting at 5:30 until 8:30 pm.
There is plenty of free parking, and the SunRunner bus stop is only 2 blocks away at 58th Street. Admission is free and open to the public.
