Auditions

The Carrollwood Cultural Center will hold dual auditions for two upcoming shows. What if William Shakespeare had written Ghostbusters? In this reimagining of the classic 1984 film, author Jordan Monsell uses iambic pentameter, period prose, and historical engravings to weave a tale fit for the Bard. Who wilt thou call? Show director Neil Bleiweiss will hold auditions for Ministers of Grace: The Unauthorized Shakespearean Parody of Ghostbusters by Jordan Monsell. Ministers of Grace: The Unauthorized Shakespearean Parody of Ghostbusters is a staged reading and will be performed at the Center on May 17 and 18. Meanwhile, show director Chris Holcom will hold auditions for Return to the Forbidden Planet by Bob Carlton. Inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest, this high-energy jukebox musical is packed with rock ‘n’ roll classics, including “Great Balls of Fire,” “Good Vibrations,” “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” “Young Girl,” and “Gloria.” Blast off on a routine flight and crash into the planet D’Illyria, inhabited by a sinister scientist, Dr. Prospero; his delightful daughter Miranda; Ariel, a faithful robot on roller skates; and an uncontrollable monster, the product of Prospero’s id, whose tentacles penetrate the spacecraft. Return to the Forbidden Planet, presented through Concord Theatricals, will be performed on July 18-27.
