Florida Wiener Dog Derby XVI -Sweet 16- with Riverfest
The Florida Wiener Dog Derby is a high-energy, family-friendly fundraiser celebrating the speed, spirit, and charm of dachshunds — along with their small all-breed friends in our popular “Wiener Wannabe” race. Spectators cheer as these determined little athletes dash down the track in pursuit of glory, creating an unforgettable day filled with laughter and excitement.
Beyond the races, the event features interactive games open to dogs of all breeds. Crowd favorites include our Kissing Contest, Tail Wagging Contest, Obedience Challenge, and a Timed Treat Sniffing Contest that tests focus and determination. One of the most thrilling attractions is “Speed Trap,” where dogs sprint a 75-foot course with their speed professionally recorded, giving pet parents bragging rights and a fun way to celebrate their dog’s athleticism.
More than just a day of competition, the Florida Wiener Dog Derby is a purpose-driven fundraiser. As an all-volunteer nonprofit event, 100% of proceeds directly benefit our official event partner rescues, providing critical funding for medical care, foster support, and adoption programs. Every race, every game, and every wagging tail helps make a life-changing difference for dogs in need.
