Becky's New Car

The little done Steven Dietz dramedy “Becky’s New Car” is taking audiences on an interactive ride this weekend at The Theater at The Navesink Library in Atlantic Highlands. Magnolia Productions presents the story of first love, grief and loss and mid-life crisis with three performances remaining. Becky’s New Car tells the story of Becky Foster, a middle-aged woman trapped in her mundane middle of the road life. When an eccentric grief-stricken widower enters her life chaos ensues. Throw in a hardworking, beer drinking husband, a neurotic coworker, a 26-year-old man child and other colorful characters and Mr Dietz delivers a must see show. This performance of Becky is set in the round, with the audience within arms reach of the performers. The cast welcomes interactions and even polls the audience. Becky’s New Car is being presented by Magnolia Productions, a newly formed woman run theater group based in Monmouth County. Magnolia strives to bring you stories about women, by women and for women. They believe in female empowerment. They believe we all have a voice. We all have a story worth telling and hearing. Magnolia Productions was founded on the belief that art binds us all together. And the belief that live theater has the power to heal. Through stories, foreign and familiar, we laugh, love, and grieve.
