Explore the creamy textures and the bold color pops that oil pastels provide to make a work of art on paper. Create realistic or impressionist portraits of New Jersey native birds, with the guidance of a professional artist and arts educator. Experience the beautiful natural light of the NJ Audubon classroom at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can look right out the window for inspiration. This group class will lead you step-by-step how to work from a photograph, establishing a base layer, color blocking, blending techniques, and details that make your composition stand out. Constructive feedback and guidance will be provided.
An approachable yet structured format encourages you to follow your inner calling to make art. Beginner-friendly and open to adults and teen artists (under 18 must be accompanied by an adult; minimum age 16) interested in birds and oil pastels.
