New Brunswick City Center Kicks Off Winter Wonderland


You don’t want to miss a thing this holiday season NEW BRUNSWICK – November 27, 2024 – Let's get this holiday party started! New Brunswick will be transformed into a winter wonderland this December, complete with festive decorations, twinkling lights and a variety of free holiday events and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Whether viewing magnificent gingerbread houses, listening to angelic carolers, enjoying the Festival of Trees decorated in multicultural fashion, meeting that jolly old St. Nick, gliding across an ice rink, or taking a fun carriage ride through town, there is something for you. Theaters throughout the City Center are featuring top-notch holiday concerts and shows, restaurants are serving up delectable dishes and delightful drinks, and shops have various unique items that make great gifts for your loved ones - and yourself. “Winter Wonderland is a beloved tradition in New Brunswick, and we are excited to bring it back for the 2024 holiday season," said Pamela Stefanek, executive director, City Center. “We encourage everyone to come to New Brunswick and enjoy the warm, festive atmosphere, the fun activities, and the holiday spirit that is truly special here." Highlights of Winter Wonderland include: • Tree Lighting Ceremony: The festivities will kick off with a tree lighting ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. Join us at Monument Square as we light up the City Center and usher in the holiday season with performances by NGXB - Classical Crossover Pianist, Bobby Wilson- son of legendary R&B/Soul singer Jackie Wilson, and the Paul Robeson Community School for the Arts choir. Children will be able to mail their letter’s to Santa in the special mailbox. • Ice Skating: Enjoy some winter fun at the iceless-skating rink located at Monument Square on Dec. 5-7. Skate rentals will be available. · Horse Drawn Carriage Rides: Come and enjoy the extravagant winter decorations of New Brunswick's City Center with a fun and safe ride downtown in our beautiful horse-drawn carriages on Dec. 14, 15,17, and 19. Tickets will go on sale Dec. 4th. · Festival of Trees: More than two dozen trees are located in downtown New Brunswick and are finely decorated by local organizations. The trees are exhibited at the American Hungarian Foundation gallery, 300 Somerset St.; NBPAC, 11 Livingston Ave.; and Amboy Bank, 350 George St. and The Heldrich Hotel, 10 Livingston Ave. · Selfies with Santa: Drop by the lobby of the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center on Dec. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a selfie with Santa! Make sure to bring your list. · Community Kwanzaa Celebration: The annual celebration of Kwanzaa takes place Dec. 19 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center 3rd Floor exhibition area. · Holiday Shows and Concerts: Throughout the Winter Wonderland event, there will be a variety of holiday shows and concerts taking place at various locations throughout City Center.
