Homeless Solutions’ 6th Annual “A Night in the Cold”

Homeless Solutions provides a Hand UP, not a HandOUT. We empower those who are experiencing homelessness in Morris County to attain housing stability, and will be holding our 6th Annual A Night in the Cold (ANITC) fundraiser on Friday, December 5th to support these efforts. In one of the coldest winter months, Homeless Solutions is asking local residents to give up one night of warmth and comfort to raise awareness of the growing needs of individuals and families experiencing housing instability in our community. Funds raised from this event will support the organization’s efforts to provide shelter, services, and stability to those without accommodations especially in the cold winter season. This year’s goal is to raise $240,000. Now in its sixth year, A Night in the Cold continues to grow—and this year brings a new element with the addition of the ‘ANITC HQ’ at Morristown High School. Homeless Solutions is inviting participants to come together in solidarity and purpose, in person at this central gathering location. Approximately 250 attendees will have the opportunity to be present during a presentation of short remarks by HSI President & CEO Jaclyn Stoll and local dignitaries, hear a first-hand account from one of our guests and participate in a “Passport” program of learning-based stations. The evening will culminate with participants sleeping on the MHS turf field. Similar to past years, participants can also choose to be a part of our ‘Cold Collective’ and sleep outside in their own backyard, car, garage, porch, or any safe outdoor space, connecting with the ANITC HQ through social media updates. Follow along using the hashtag #HSINIGHTINTHECOLD. Where and how you sleep is up to you—the important thing is showing solidarity with those experiencing housing instability, and helping Homeless Solutions raise vital funds for our shelter and support services that help individuals and families rebuild their lives. Participation in this event helps provide warmth, safety, and hope to those who need it most. A Night in the Cold was created in 2020 in response to one of the hardest years Americans faced due to the global pandemic. The event has become a powerful act of empathy and has continued to grow each year as the needs of the unsheltered community in our area continue to rise. This year alone Monarch Housing reported an 8% increase in people experiencing homelessness in New Jersey during their annual Point-in-Time count compared to 2024’s count. To those not able to participate, but who wish to support the organization and its mission, all donations can be made here A Night in the Cold 2025. About Homeless Solutions Our Philosophy is “A Hand UP, not a HandOUT.” Since 1983, Homeless Solutions has been helping people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity in our community. As a private, nonprofit organization, we are unique in what we do. We offer more than just a healthy meal and a place to sleep. We create pathways for people to rebuild stability, achieve lasting housing and pursue their long-term goals. What sets Homeless Solutions apart from others is our comprehensive continuum of housing options, including our Main Shelter, Transitional Housing Program (THP) for families, Warming Center for individuals living unsheltered during the winter, Mt. Kemble Home for senior women, Women’s Campus for single women, and 72 additional units of affordable rental housing, owned and operated by HSI, throughout Morris County. Each of our programs is designed to meet people where they are and support their journey to sustainable housing.
