Mercy Center's Chefs' Feast


The event will take place on Thursday, Feb. 27, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel, located at 1401 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park. With a mission to serve the rising number of area families facing food insecurity, the culinary event promises an unforgettable experience of delicious food, friendly competition, and community spirit. Attendees will sample creations from five local chefs, cast their votes for their favorite dish, and see one culinary master crowned “Top Chef.” Joe Leone Introna of Joe Leone’s Italian Specialties, is coordinating the food tastings and serving as the fundraiser’s emcee. The evening will kick off with a cocktail hour featuring an open bar and passed hors d’oeuvres, followed by chef tastings and a grand finale of desserts donated by local bakeries and eateries. Live music by Chris Pinnella will set the tone for a festive and flavorful night. Participating chefs and restaurants include: Chef James Avery, The Black Swan, Asbury Park Chef and Chopped champion Lauren Covas, Chef Covas Catering, Long Branch Chef Christopher Dutka, 618, Freehold Chef Nick Liberto, One Willow, Highlands Chef Michael Tsarnas, Gabriella’s Italian Steakhouse, Red Bank Attendees will have the chance to bid on exciting prizes during live and silent auctions, take part in a 50/50 cash raffle, and celebrate the winning “Top Chef.” Tickets are $250 per person and $150 for young professionals ages 21-35. A generous local resident has secured the top-level sponsorship of $25,000, and sponsorships ranging from $1,000 to $15,000 are still available.
