On Saturday November 23 at 7 P.M. The Long Hill String Band will perform their special brand of American roots music at The First Presbyterian Church of Stirling. With fiddle, banjo, mandolin, upright bass, guitar, and voice. The Long Hill String Band plays Old-Time music, a precursor to bluegrass. The band plays reels, jigs, waltzes, rags, and ballads blending the music brought to the Appalachian Mountains by settlers coming from Europe and Africans brought to America as slaves. The blending of these musical styles became a truly American style. The Long Hill String Band frequently performs at fairs, historical sites, and square dances and has its very own troop of limberjacks. As always, our concerts are free to the public; donations are welcome.
