These events are really special, and also free and open to the public at Work & Leisure in Midtown! They are only an hour long, 8-9pm.
About our storyteller for this Campfire: As a child, Connie Flachs could often be found at bedtime smuggling a book under the covers and feigning sleep at the sound of her parents’ footsteps. This love of stories (and flair for theatrics) led her to an eight-year career as a professional dancer, where she performed lead roles in both classical and contemporary productions. After nearly a decade of inhabiting others’ stories through movement and pushing her body to its limits, Connie felt her own narrative stagnate. She retired from dance to pursue other passions, taking on a smattering of playful jobs — from serving Cubanos out of a food truck to cleaning chicken coops on a community farm.
Ultimately, Connie began her second career as a psychotherapist specializing in eating disorders, where she reveres and cherishes the stories of those she sits with. In her work, and as a Campfire Fellow, Connie hopes to embody and share the wisdom of the niche and nerdy original musical [title of show]: “You have a story to tell, pull your novel out of that sock drawer!”
