Admission: $8 for general admission, $7 for seniors(60+), Webster alumni & students from other schools (Patrice Chéreau, 1994, France/Germany, 159 minutes) Based on the 1845 Alexandre Dumas novel of the same name, Patrice Chéreau’s Queen Margot (Le Reine Margot) has Isabelle Adjani as King Charles IX’s (Daniel Auteuil) sister Marguerite de Valois, a/k/a Margot, a Catholic heiress to the throne in 16th century France. The Catholics are at war with the Protestants, and Margot is trapped in an arranged marriage, but hopes to escape her powerful family and run away with her Protestant lover, La Môle (Vincent Perez, Indochine). Initially released in America by Miramax and re-edited by Harvey Scissorhands, we are pleased to present Queen Margot in the 2014 4K restoration of the original cut. Nominated for twelve Césars, winner of five, including Best Actress for Adjani, her fourth win in that category. In French and Italian with English subtitles.
