Mysterious Skin

With Mysterious Skin, New Queer Cinema icon Gregg Araki for the first time adapted a previously-existing work (Scott Heim’s novel of the same name) and in the process reached a new level of acclaim and success in his already accomplished career. Telling the story of former Little League teammates Brian and Neil who reconnect as teenagers when Brian (Brady Corbet, director and co-writer of The Brutalist) seeks out Neil (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, just transitioning away from 3rd Rock from the Sun and into movie star mode) to find out what happened to him as a little boy when he blacked out during a rainstorm after a game. If you’re not reading a content warning between the lines here, you should be. With a deep supporting cast that includes Mary Lynn Rajskub (Punch-Drunk Love), Michelle Trachtenberg (TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Elizabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas), and Hal Hartley favorite Bill Sage. $8 for the general public; $7 for seniors, Webster alumni and students from other schools; $6 for Webster University staff and faculty; $0 for Webster students with proper ID.
