Hand Flaring Rolled Beeswax Candle Workshop
Come join us for a creative Saturday afternoon at The Monday Club in beautiful Webster Groves! In this hands-on workshop, Learn the art of flaring wax into beautiful upward spirals while hand rolling fluted candles from smooth sheets of colored beeswax. Fluting candles in this way is a rare art practiced by just a handful of artisans. With a little practice, almost anyone can create these lovely, colorful candles. Flaring wax in this way does require some finger dexterity.
Hosted by The School of The Forgotten Arts, you will be guided through the process of rolling the colorful wax sheets around a cotton wick and then creating more complex flares from the wax. We will cover how to handle beeswax sheets, how to measure and cut, and then to the art of flaring. Participants will be guided through a range of candle shapes and sizes. The possibilities are infinite!
Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned crafter, this workshop is the perfect way to spend an Autumn afternoon. Tea, coffee and refreshments provided and each participant will be supplied with 6 full size sheets of wax which will produce 6 to 24 finished candles depending on how the wax sheets are divided and cut. Flared candles are usually priced at $30 each in a retail store.
