Civil Rights Night: The Impact of Racial Laws from Jim Crow to the Holocaust, is from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12 at the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum Auditorium, 36 Millstone Campus Drive. This is a educational program examining the historical connections between racial oppression in the United States and Nazi genocide featuring Dr. Dan J. Puckett, Professor of History at Troy University and Chair of the Alabama Holocaust Commission. Dr. Puckett will explore how racial laws shaped American history under Jim Crow and how similar ideologies informed the legal and social framework of the Holocaust. They will be joined in conversation by Reverend Rodrick Burton, President of the St. Louis Airport Interfaith Chaplaincy. Together, they will discuss the lasting implications of these histories and their relevance to contemporary conversations about civil rights, justice and historical memory. Tickets are $8.
