A Red Circle Farm House Open House: From Crisis to Cultivation
Thursday, April 10, 2025 | 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
North County Agricultural Education Center | 4521 Hamilton Ave, St. Louis, MO 63120
Admission: Free – RSVP required via Eventbrite
In the heart of North St. Louis County, where families have long fought for access to quality education, healthy food, and economic security, a new community-powered solution is taking root. On Thursday, April 10, A Red Circle invites the public to celebrate the official launch of the Farm House: Food Justice & Education Hub, a groundbreaking initiative designed to nourish minds, bodies, and futures. As federal support disappears, the people are stepping up.
This free, family-friendly open house will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local officials, followed by hands-on experiences in food, advocacy, and learning. Attendees will enjoy:
• Guided farm tours that highlight sustainable agriculture and food justice
• Live cooking demonstrations and farm-to-table tastings using fresh produce grown onsite
• STEM-based learning experiences for youth and families
• A student-led Education Advocacy Station focused on restoring school funding
• Volunteer, partnership, and sponsorship opportunities
With over $1 billion slashed from federal school meal programs, thousands of students in North St. Louis County face losing critical support—from free meals to after-school care to special education. School districts including Ferguson-Florissant, Normandy, Hazelwood, Jennings, and Riverview Gardens are already bracing for the impact.
A Red Circle’s Farm House is a direct and long-term response to this crisis. Located at the North County Agricultural Education Center, the Farm House is more than a garden—it’s a place of learning, healing, and economic opportunity. Youth gain hands-on experience in environmental science and agriculture. Parents access fresh food and cooking knowledge. Aspiring entrepreneurs learn to grow and sell produce, supporting self-sufficiency and wellness.
The Education Advocacy Station, led by high school students, puts a spotlight on youth voice. These students will present data, storytelling, and visual displays that highlight how federal education cuts are felt in their lives. From shrinking arts budgets to disappearing counselors, their stories reveal why this moment matters.
Real families, real stakes:
• A Ferguson mother fears her child’s school may no longer offer breakfast.
• A Normandy grandmother worries how to afford groceries while paying student loans.
• A Pine Lawn mom may lose the after-school support that keeps her son safe.
• A Ferguson-Florissant family wonders if educational field trips will become a thing of the past.
The Farm House is built for them—and for every neighbor who believes we all deserve better.
