Mint Cannabis and ImpactLife Host Urgent Summer Blood Drive in St. Peters on May 16

Mint Cannabis is once again teaming up with ImpactLife to hold a Community Blood Drive this summer at its St. Peters, MO, dispensary (150 Mid Rivers Mall Circle). The blood drives will take place in the dispensary parking lot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16. All successful blood donors can choose to receive a $20 e-gift card, redeem points in the ImpactLife Donor Rewards Store, or make an equivalent donation to a nonprofit organization. For more information on ImpactLife Donor Rewards, see www.bloodcenter.org/rewards. ImpactLife will have a mobile donor bus on-site. The full donation process typically takes about one hour and includes a complimentary mini-physical, a brief (approximately 10-minute) blood donation, and time to rest and refresh with snacks and fluids. While walk-ins will be accepted, individuals who make an appointment in advance to donate blood at one of these events will be prioritized. To make an appointment to donate blood, call 1-800-747-5401 and request the Mint dispensary’s St. Peters, Mo. location. You can also sign up online here: https://login.bloodcenter.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/149073 More blood donors are needed during the summer months. Blood needs throughout the Midwest continue to rise and ImpactLife continually works to keep pace with this critical need. Reaching the daily blood donor goals can be a challenge, especially in the summer months, when people are often out of town on vacation. Overall, less than 10% of the population give blood, so donors who give on a regular basis are important to meet these needs. Someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds, whether it’s due to an accident, surgery, illness, or disease. Blood has a short shelf life, requiring a constant supply of donations. Red blood cells must be used within 42 days, and platelets must be used in five. That means blood products must be constantly replenished, and doing so is only possible thanks to blood donors. According to ImpactLife, 600 blood donors are needed daily to replenish blood supplies. There is a critically low supply of O- and O+ blood right now. According to ImpactLife, donors with all blood types are needed, especially from people with types O negative and O positive. Donating blood saves lives. “We are devoted to helping the community however we can, and we are pleased to once again team up with ImpactLife to host four blood drives this summer,” said Eivan Shahara, CEO of Mint Cannabis. “By donating blood, you can literally help save a life.” ImpactLife is the exclusive provider of blood products and services to more than 120 hospitals and emergency medical services providers in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
