Billy Lemp Tonight, a unique new one-man play coming to the Lemp Mansion Jan. 18, 2025
This is a one-man play featuring St. Louis actor Tim Callahan as William J. "Billy" Lemp Jr., who will revisit the Lemp Mansion to reflect on the triumphs and tragedies of his life. He'll pay a visit to today's audience, to describe the early history of the William J. Lemp Brewing Company, how it dominated St. Louis markets for many years, how it created the long-running brand of Falstaff beer, and all the successes the company enjoyed in the 1800s. The second act of the play will deal with the repeated tragedies that came upon the family as the 20th century dawned, including the deaths of Billy's father and brother, the onset of Prohibition, and the unexpected death of his sister Elsa. He will also reflect on other events that led to his suicide within the Lemp Mansion in 1922, and even touch on the mansion's haunted reputation. Suitable for adult audiences, includes a cash bar and drink coupon, post-play reception to meet the actor, Tim Callahan, and playwright Stephen Walker.
