Page & Turner Comic Relief Show
Big laughs are coming to O’Fallon – and amateur comedians of all ages are the stars of the show! The Metro East Literacy Project (MELP), which promotes a culture of reading in the Illinois Metro East St. Louis region, invites the community to its first-ever Page & Turner Comic Relief Show on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Katy Cavins Community Center for a night of comedy benefiting literacy programs for children and adults.
This family-friendly event kicks off with a performance by a special guest comedian, who will then hand the microphone over to kids, adults, and amateur comedians in the audience ready to take the stage. Laughs are guaranteed whether you BYOJ – bring your own jokes – or pick your favorites from joke books placed around the room. The event also includes an online silent auction and refreshments.
Proceeds from the show will bring MELP’s mascot – Page and Turner – to life. This kangaroo and joey duo will join MELP at book giveaways, schools, and daycares throughout the year, helping to encourage a love of reading in children and adults across the region.
“Each year, MELP puts more than 6,000 books in the hands of hundreds of families across the Metro East,” said Linda Mitchell, founder and executive director of MELP. “In some of the communities we serve, as many as 88 percent of children are not reading at grade level. Through our literacy programs – and with the help of Page and Turner – we can show children that reading can be fun while providing families with a home library that helps spark a lifelong love of books.”
Doors for The Page & Turner Comic Relief Show open at 6 p.m. at the Katy Cavins Community Center, 309 E. 5th St., O’Fallon, 62269 with the show starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $35 the day of the event for adults and $12.50 for children.
