This Mother’s Day, join the Fork in the Road Foundation for a breakfast that nourishes both the heart and the palate. We’re gathering at Grace United Methodist Church for a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and the incredible culinary talents of our refugee chef, Mawda Altayan.
Whether you’re bringing a partner, a friend, or your favorite foodie, you’ll be treated to a feast that bridges the distance between St. Louis and the Mediterranean.
🍽 Mawda’s Menu
Prepare your senses for a journey through rich spices, crispy textures, and unexpected sweetness.
Labneh with Olives. Served with Pita: Yogurt, olives, dry mint, olive oil.
Avocado Hummus. Served with Pita: Chickpeas, tahina, avocado, lemon, garlic, olive oil.
Zaatar Manakish: Flour, milk, water, sugar, yeast, salt, olive oil, topped with a blend of dried thyme/oregano, sumac, toasted sesame seeds, ground pistachios, and coconut.
Cheese Burak: Handmade dough made of flour, milk, ghee, and yeast. Stuffed with Arabic cheese and parsley. Deep-fried in corn oil.
Chickpeas with Vegetables and Tahini Sauce. Served with Pita: Chickpeas, tomato, parsley, onion, garlic, olive oil, and fresh lemon juice. Yogurt, tahini, garlic, and lemon juice, decorated with Arabic spices.
