American Society of Botanical Artists, Katherine Alexander Exhibitions

April 4 – May 24, 2025 The Foundry Art Centre unveils two captivating new exhibitions this April: A More Abundant Future by the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) and Hatchless Flight by St. Louis artist Katherine Alexander. ASBA's A More Abundant Future, part of the global Botanical Art Worldwide project, showcases 41 stunning botanical artworks depicting diverse heirloom fruits and vegetables, foraged plants, and ancient grains. This exhibition highlights the vital connection between plants and humanity, the importance of crop diversity, and the resurgence of botanical art. In addition, join us along with 30 other countries whose exhibitions run concurrently for celebration of Worldwide Day of Botanical Art on May 18th. Over 1200 works of art from around the world will be on display electronically in the gallery throughout the run of A More Abundant Future. The American Society of Botanical Artists is an international organization of nearly 2000 members and 40 institutional members including botanical gardens, horticultural libraries, and universities. ASBA provides a thriving interactive community dedicated to perpetuating the tradition and contemporary practice of botanical art. In Hatchless Flight, St. Louis-based artist Katherine Alexander presents a contemporary exploration of pysanky, the traditional Ukrainian art of egg dyeing. Her work delves into the symbolic language of these intricate creations, emphasizing themes of nature, symmetry, and renewal. Alexander's unique approach blends historical techniques with modern artistic vision. Celebrate the opening of these exhibitions on Friday, April 4th, from 5-8pm, during our First Friday event. Enjoy live music by Two Hands | One Engine, family-friendly art activities, and refreshments from the Foundry bar. A More Abundant Future and Hatchless Flight will be on view in the Main Galleries through May 24th.
