Family Hamentash Bake!

Chabad of Chesterfield invites the entire community to an extraordinary celebration of joy, unity, and tradition with the Family Hamentash Bake! Join us for a spectacular celebration on Sunday, March 2nd at 4:00 p.m. Families will come together to roll, fill, and shape the perfect hamentash. From classic apricot to chocolatey surprises, this interactive baking experience promises to create memories of this wonderful holiday tradition. The magic continues with balloons, face painting, and more. Come dressed in costume for the full holiday spirit!!  This year, the holiday of Purim falls out on the evening of March 13-14. The jolly festival of Purim is celebrated every year on the 14th of the Hebrew month of Adar (late winter/early spring). It commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in ancient Persia from Haman’s plot “to destroy, kill, and annihilate all the Jews, young and old, infants and women, in a single day,” as recorded in the book of Esther.  A hamentash is a triangular-shaped filled-pocket cookie that is traditionally eaten on the holiday of Purim. A well-known insight into the hamantash points to the fact that the filling is hidden inside the dough. In earlier times, the Jewish nation was accustomed to experiencing open miracles. In a time of exile, openly revealed miracles aren’t necessarily experienced anymore. Nevertheless, the Purim story shows that this does not mean that we’ve been abandoned (G‑d forbid). On the contrary, G‑d is ever-present. He’s just operating in a behind-the-scenes fashion, just as the filling of the hamantash is hidden within the dough. The cost is $10/baker with sponsorship opportunities available. For more info or to RSVP (required), JewishChesterfield.com/familybake or [email protected] or 636-778-4000. Don't miss out on an evening filled with fun, joy, and the spirit of Purim. The Family Hamentash Bake will be a memorable experience for the entire community. This event is one of many initiatives aimed at bringing people together to celebrate Jewish traditions and create lasting memories. Connecting Community, Celebrating Traditions!
