Genealogy Basics Class
Curious about family history but not sure where to begin? This introductory genealogy class at the Windsor Branch of the Jefferson County Library will cover the basics of tracing family roots. Learn how to start a family tree, organize what is already know, and identify the best next steps in genealogy research.
The class will cover:
• How to gather information from family members and home sources
• Tips for organizing names, dates, and documents
• Understanding vital records (birth, marriage, death, census, and more)
• Navigating library resources and online research tools
• Basic search strategies to find accurate results faster
Participants will receive a simple research checklist and guidance on accessing genealogy databases available through the library.
Perfect for beginners. No prior experience required. This program is for adults.
