Overview:

In advance of Resistance on the Runway, the AfriKin Fashion Workshops invite guests into an intimate behind-the-scenes exchange with featured designers from across Africa and the Diaspora. This rare encounter reveals the inspirations, practices, and creative philosophies shaping the collections to be unveiled during the runway show the following evening.

More than a preview, the workshops immerse participants in the artistry of global African fashion—an industry projected to reach one trillion dollars in value. Designers share how heritage, innovation, and sustainability intersect in their work, creating garments that are as much cultural testimony as they are couture. Attendees will also enjoy a curated shopping experience, along with styling insights and lessons in fashion ethics from leaders in one of the world’s most influential industries.

The Designers:

Representing a cross-section of continents and cultures, participating designers channel the spirit of the women of Nder, merging ancestral silhouettes with avant-garde statements. Expect:

  • Fabrics steeped in royal traditions
  • Patterns echoing revolutionary spirit
  • Artistry weaving together past and future

Together, these collections transform garments into living testaments of resistance, resilience, and regal beauty—a ceremonial reclaiming of heritage.

Featured designers hail from:
Burkina Faso, Congo, Ghana, Haiti, Jamaica, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Trinidad & Tobago, the United States

AfriKin FashionWhy Attend:

The AfriKin Fashion Workshops offer more than access—they provide perspective. Guests will engage directly with visionary designers who are not only shaping garments but also narratives of empowerment, identity, and possibility. This program underscores AfriKin’s commitment to celebrating African fashion as a global force of creativity, commerce, and cultural legacy.

Talatay Nder lives on—in fabric, in form, and in fire.
