A retelling of Medusa’s tale from her own mouth
Why do we think of the story of Medusa as a punishment? This view, based on a westernized centered perspective, has long been told as a story that punishes the victim. Medusa being cursed to forever live, turning men into stone with one look at her face. Why do we not look at her story as one of bravery? One asking for power to fight? Why do we assume Medusa would be sad to never have another man harm her again?
A short talk about the research, articles, and perspective shift of Medusa’s story will be covered, followed by a play of Medusa’s story told in her own words.
