Noveltease Theatre, Seattle’s premier literary burlesque company, invites you to a party you’ll never forget in this retro queer adaptation of The Great Gatsby, playing at Theatre Off Jackson April 18 through April 26. In celebration of the classic American novel’s centennial, Noveltease bears us back into a past where the glitz of the Jazz Age and the gay Roaring 20s promise the American Dream, gleaming like that green light, just out of reach... Adapter and director Lulu La Lune and choreographer Fosse Jack team up to bring this fantastical era back to life, combining dazzling ballroom dance sequences with jazzy striptease. But they’re not alone: we’ve got a veritable (American) dream team of designers. Noveltease favorite, Angelo Domitri (Hamlet, Sleeping Beauty and the Bear Prince), will return to turn up the lights and cast some long shadows over Robin McCartney’s (Vietgone, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd) set of art deco opulence. Meanwhile, Kit Goldsworthy (Bohemia, Sister Kate Dance Company) will use her skills at jazz-age costume construction to outfit our cast of actor-ecdysiasts! Noveltease Company members Anya Knees, Carson St. Clair, Cheeky Diamondz, Fosse Jack, Miss Elaine Yes, Ramona Rhapsody, Sailor St. Claire, and Trixie Paprika will star alongside guest artists Rhys Daly and Merlot Loren.
