Gelsie is desperate to find her two older sisters after they disappear under mysterious circumstances, but the more she looks for answers, the less she understands about the world and her place in it.
Deadheading is a dark, modern fairy tale inspired by and subverting the classic Portuguese tale, What Came of Picking Flowers (from The Grey Fairy Book), but prunes the fable back to unveil the misguided lessons once thought prudent. Deadheading asks what happens after innocence is stolen, after men like its Mr. Bolting use their power and influence to take, and take, and call it just the way of nature.
This is not a tale of passive daughters or inevitable monsters.
This is turning things on their head.
Or worse.
Run time is about 2 hours with a 15 minute intermission.
A talk back to follow with playwright, director, and cast to further develop the script.
