Richard & Ellen Sandor Israeli Arts & Culture Prize featuring Sigalit Landau
Sigalit Landau is an interdisciplinary Israeli artist who works with installation, video, photography and sculpture. Landau’s work has been exhibited globally in museums and leading venues and her works are included in major collections at The Brooklyn Museum, MACBA, MoMA, Centre George Pompidou, The Israel Museum, The Tel Aviv Museum of Art and MoCK (The Museum of Contemporary art Krakow).
Over the years, Landau has used the Dead Sea as a laboratory and medium for new art explorations. She transforms everyday items, such as clothing, fishing nets, and a bicycle, into objects of art by submerging them into the Dead Sea and documenting their crystallizing transformation. A few years ago, her work “Tutu, 2018” went viral on social media.
