Sarasota Audubon's FLY WILD: Birds, Nature & Exploration
FLY WILD: Birds, Nature & Exploration invites families, birders, photographers, and nature lovers to gather on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Sarasota Audubon Nature Center at the Celery Fields for a day of discovery, learning, and outdoor fun.
This family-friendly community event celebrates Sarasota’s birds, wild spaces, and the vital conservation work happening right in our backyard. Attendees of all ages are welcome to explore the Celery Fields through a wide variety of engaging activities designed to inspire curiosity and connection with nature.
Throughout the day, guests can enjoy:
• Guided bird and nature walks led by knowledgeable volunteers and local experts
• A Bird-a-Thon, encouraging participants to observe and celebrate the diversity of bird species at the Celery Fields
• A photography contest highlighting the beauty of Sarasota’s wildlife and landscapes
• A children’s scavenger hunt designed to engage young explorers
• Interactive exhibits and engaging conservation conversations focused on birds, habitat, and environmental stewardship
A special highlight of FLY WILD is the opportunity to learn about Sarasota Audubon Society’s ambitious re-wilding project at the Quad Parcels. This important conservation effort focuses on restoring habitat, improving ecosystems, and protecting bird populations for future generations. Attendees can take trolley tours to the Quad Parcels to hear directly about the restoration plans, see progress firsthand, and better understand why this work is critical to Sarasota’s environmental health.
Whether you are an experienced birder, an aspiring photographer, or a family looking for a meaningful outdoor experience, FLY WILD offers something for everyone.
