'Tis the season of giving and Thread! Playback Threatre invites you to reflect upon the gifts that add meaning to our lives and the lives of those around us.
What kinds of intangible gifts do we carry within us? How do we share them, and what "gifts" have they brought us in return? What memorable gifts--tangible or intangible--have had an impact on our lives, made us laugh, made us cry? Who is the most famous gift-giver among your family and friends? What is the gift you always wished for? What is your favorite gift to give? Sarasota's renowned improvisational playback performance troupe Thread! will sing, dance, and act out the answers to these questions and more as the troupe explores the topics of gifts and giving in their special holiday season performance.
Sarasota's homegrown playback theatre troupe, Thread!, performs regularly in Southwest Florida under the guidance of internationally renowned director Olga Sanachina. The talented troupe of performers take audience stories and, on the spot, portrays them on stage with acting, dancing, singing, and improvised, original live music. Serving communities throughout Florida, the nine-player troupe Thread! are masters of playback theatre, a unique combination of improvisational theatre, music, and storytelling techniques developed during the theatrical form's 50-year history. Each performance is carefully crafted to connect audience members and players in surprising ways that no other art form can.
