Arts Advocates Gallery, The Crossings at Siesta Key mall, 3501 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34239
Sarasota’s own Petticoat Painters present a new exhibit, “Petticoats Are Showing.” The Petticoat Painters is among the oldest continuously exhibiting women’s art collectives in the U.S. The group was formed in 1953 to showcase the talents of female artists at a time when women had difficulty finding venues to show their work. Today’s members are an evolving group of professional contemporary women artists exhibiting together. Although Petticoat members have traditionally been painters, many now also embrace other media of expression including sculpture, fiber and photography. More info at ArtsAdvocates.org.
