ACE - Intro to Sumi-E Japanese Ink Painting for Beginners
Students will learn the basics for Japanese Brush painting with this beautiful painting method. You will learn about the inks and methods for loading and holding your brush, directing the flow of ink and more.
Bring these supplies:
Sumi-e paint brushes
Bottle of Sumi (ink), as a beginner bottle ink is sufficient
Rice paper (Practice Xuan (Shuen), Moon palace roll, OAS practice paper roll).
An ink dish or small flat plate (white)
Container with 3 compartments for water (3 separate containers would work as well)
Piece of felt ~2’ X 2’ (black, gray or brown), black is preferred
Roll of paper towel
Empty paper towel tubes ~2 (for transporting wet paintings)
