Are you ready to get your poetry on? Join us on February 17, 2026 at Satori Arts for Inter|Act, a FREE shared words open mic night, from 7-9 pm, with featured poet Shizue Seigel.
Shizue Seigel is a San Francisco-based Japanese American born just after her family’s release from World War II incarceration. Her poetry, prose and visual art draw from lived experience in segregated Baltimore, post-Occupation Japan, strawberry sharecropping camps, and Indian ashrams.
As founder/director of Write Now! SF Bay, she supports writing and art by people of color through free workshops, events, exhibits, and five anthologies. Her writing and artwork have been published most recently in Panorama, Blue Mesa Review, Journal X/Xinachtli Journal, and the Porter Gulch Review.
Come share your spoken word work or poetry with the community, or come out to support our local readers! Sign up to read starting at 6:30 pm (sign up closes at 7 pm). Limited sign-ups and seating. For more information, visit https://www.satoriarts.org/s-projects-side-by-side.
